Preparation of low‐density high‐performance porous aramid films using porosity promoter polymers

Low-density porous aramid films using inexpensive and widely available polymers as porosity promoters, that is, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (PEOx), cellulose polyacetate (CA) were fabricated. Porous poly (m-phenylene isophthalamide) obtained by the standard casting procedure mixtures of with either PVA, PEOx, or CA, followed removal promoter immersing them in water acetone. As a result, up to 65% density reduction pore sizes ranging from 0.02 10 μm 30% increment Young's modulus obtained. In addition, morphology was homogeneous controlled proportion nature polymer. The materials plays significant role energy crises need for fuel reduction. This study revealed it is possible prepare low-density inexpensively without impairing their outstanding performance PVA
